Important changes to non-taxable properties.
NEW for 2016! Per IC 6-1.1-11-3, the deadline to submit a property tax exemption application to the County Assessor is April 1 of the year containing the assessment date.
Because of a change in legislature, an application for tax exempt status is no longer required every two years so long as the exempt property is owned, occupied, and used for educational, literary, scientific, religious, or charitable purposes per Indiana Code 6-1.1-11-4.
