Why use the Monthly Pay Plan? If you do not escrow your tax payments the Monthly Pay Plan can help budget your tax payments. Instead of having to come up with two large tax payments each year, you can have smaller monthly payments deducted directly from your checking or savings account. Once setup, the pay plan does the work of paying taxes each month for you. You no longer have to stand in line at the Treasurer's office to pay, no trip downtown, no postage and maybe best of all, no missed payments and that means no late payment penalty!
The Monthly Pay Plan is also a helpful tool when you need to catch up on delinquent tax. Instead of having to come up with one or two large payments, you can break payments up over a period of months.
Is setting up the Monthly Pay Plan hard to do? Setting up the Monthly Pay Plan is very straightforward, to get started you will need to know your bank's routing number and your account number. Setting up your plan involves four basic steps:
Where can I get more detailed instructions to help me setup my account? You can get complete step by step instructions by clicking How to create/modify a Monthly Pay Plan.
If I get stuck, is there anyone I can call for help? You can call the Allen County Treasurer's office at 260-449-7693. We are here Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm to assist you.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: If you are signing up for the monthly pay plan in a month other than December, you must be sure you pay enough to be current by the spring due date or penalties will apply. You cannot use the Monthly Pay Plan to miss or "extend" tax deadlines!
Example: Suppose I sign up on the Monthly Pay Plan May 1st and the spring due date is May 10, I must pay all taxes due by the May 10 deadline or my property will incur penalties. I can then use the remaining months to spread out my remaining payments so that I am all paid by the November deadline.
