Nominations are now being accepted for the "Linda and Jerry Vandeveer Impact Award," designed to honor volunteerism and community service work in the names of the longtime community advocates. Nominations will be accepted through June 30. Forms are available online and at the Board of Commissioners office in Suite 410 of Citizens Square, 200 East Berry Street. Nominees will be evaluated based on four criteria:

  • Vision and action: seeing a need in their community and taking steps to meet that need
  • Selflessness and sacrifice: devoting their time and energy in service to their community without seeking recognition or reward
  • Commitment and perseverance: working through difficulties and challenges to achieve their goal
  • Impact: making a positive impact in their community through their work and serving as encouragement for others to do likewise

The award will be presented on September 28. Recipients will receive an individual plaque and their names will be included on a perpetual plaque that will remain in the Commissioners' office.

In its continuing effort to offer the public easier access to county government information, the office of the Allen County Board of Commissioners has started the process of posting to the Internet contracts approved by the Commissioners.

Beginning with 2010 and going forward, all contracts which are approved and signed by the Commissioners at each legislative session will be scanned and added here.

This information is filtered by year and dates of legislative sessions. Agendas and minutes from each legislative session are also included to help people find specific contracts.

It is the goal of the Allen County Board of Commissioners and its departments to comply with the provisions of Indiana Code 5-14-3 (Access to Public Records Act) for the County's public records. In an effort to ensure compliance with the Code and to promote full access to the County's public records, the Board of Commissioners on May 7, 2010, approved the Allen County Public Records Policy. This policy covers the Office of the Commissioners along with its departments.

Public Records Policy

As part of the policy, the County has developed an Access to Public Records request form. This is an OPTIONAL form that the public can use when seeking disclosure of public records. You can download the form, fill it out and save it to your computer, then email it to the address listed on the form.  It can also be completed online, then printed and either mailed or faxed to us.

Public Records Request Form

Copies of both the Access to Public Records Policy and the public records request form are available at the offices of the Board of Commissioners and its departments.

The Indiana Public Access Counselor's site provides advice and assistance concerning Indiana's public access laws to members of the public and government officials and their employees.

Important: This office does not handle public records requests involving law enforcement agencies or the courts. Requests for police records will need to be submitted to the specific police department which handled the matter.
