Marriage Licenses PDF Print E-mail

To be married in the State of Indiana a couple must have a marriage license.  The male and female applicants who wish to be married must apply in person in the Central Services Division and bring with them the required documents.  For Indiana residents, at least one applicant must reside in Allen County and provide documentation of residency.  Out-of-state residents may apply for a license in Allen County only if the marriage ceremony is performed in Allen County.

If you are applying for a marriage license in Allen County, you may start the application process online.  Click here to familiarize yourself with the process.  While you will still have to appear at the Clerk's Office to complete the process and receive your license (as required by Indiana law), starting your application online will save you time at the Clerk's Office.

The Central Services Division is located in Room 201 of the Allen County Courthouse, 715 South Calhoun Street, Fort Wayne, Indiana.  You may apply Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, unless the Courthouse is closed for a legal holiday.  Public access computers are also available at the Courthouse to start the application process online.  Allow a minimum of thirty (30) minutes to complete the information.

REMINDER:  Cellular telephones, pagers, cameras, and other electronic devices are banned from the Allen County Courthouse.  If you bring such a device into the Courthouse, the Sheriff may confiscate and destroy it.

A marriage license recording is provided by the Clerk for your convenience. You may listen to the marriage license requirements by calling (260) 449-7370 at any time.  If you have any further questions regarding marriage licenses, you may call the Central Services Division at (260) 449-7245.
