The 2008 annual report for Allen County was released today by the office of the Board of Commissioners.

"2008 was a year that stressed the importance of governing dutifully and wisely," said Bill Brown, President of the Board of Commissioners.  "We are proud to report that the financial state of Allen County remains strong, sound and solvent.  The challenges that we face do not overshadow or outnumber our achievements, a number of which are outlined in this report."

Highlights of the comprehensive, 16-page color report include:

  • A breakdown of general fund revenues and the distribution of the county general fund budget in 2008
  • A review of new companies locating in Allen County, along with existing firms which either expanded or relocated their operations within our community
  • A recap of some of the major projects undertaken by the County Highway Department
  • The opening of the new joint City-County Land Use Division
  • Extended operating hours for many county offices and flexible scheduling options for county employees
  • The success of the FamilyWize prescription drug discount card program and the Commissioners' role in publicizing and distributing the cards
  • A look at some of the goals and objectives for the county in the year 2009

The 2008 Annual Report was prepared by the Commissioners' Public Information Office and printed through the facilities of the county's print shop.  In the coming weeks, it will be distributed to public facilities throughout the community, including government offices and branches of the Allen County Public Library.
