The start of construction on a new phase of the state's US 24 "Fort-to-Port" project in eastern Allen County will mean the end of the road for a portion of county highway.
Beginning Monday, motorists will no longer be able to use Roussey Road to travel between Woodburn Road and Slusher Road. A 740-foot stretch of Roussey will permanently be closed at 9:00 that morning. The closure will allow the Indiana Department of Transportation to begin construction of Phase 3 of the "Fort-to-Port" project. INDOT will be responsible for constructing cul-de-sacs at both ends of the closed section of Roussey located about 600 feet south of Woodburn Road and about 3,900 feet north of Slusher Road. Phase 3 of new US 24, which will stretch from 0.65 miles east of Webster Road to 0.5 miles west of SR 101, has a length of over three and one-half miles and will tie into the west end of Phase 4A now under construction. It is the longest segment of the Indiana portion of "Fort to Port." |
