The Allen County Solid Waste Management District is seeking creative minds to help spread the word about recycling in our community. To do this, the District is sponsoring a video contest for Allen County students in grades 6 through 12. The purpose of the contest is to educate and inspire the general public to actively recycle by changing simple behaviors and taking advantage of local recycling opportunities. Interested students are encouraged to make a 30-second video and submit it to our group page on You Tube -- www.youtube.com/acswmd1 -- by February 15, 2010. Participants must also complete an entry form and release form which can be found the District's website -- www.acwastewatcher.org. Two winners will be chosen by a panel of judges selected by the District. The 1st prize winner will receive a Dell netbook courtesy of Best Buy. The 2nd prize winner will receive a Apple iPod 16GB MP3 Player courtesy of National Serv-all. Selected videos will be used for educational purposes including: Internet sites, conferences and events, television, and other media outlets. To receive more detailed information about the contest, visit www.acwastewatcher.org or call 449-7878. |
