The Allen County Highway Department announced today that a section of Hollopeter Road near Leo has been closed due to damage caused by recent heavy storms.

The portion of Hollopeter that is closed goes from Viberg Road to Hull Road.

Randy Knach, Operations Supervisor for the North Maintenance Barn, said the heavy rains washed out three or four holes in an area of Hollopeter where a three-foot drainage pipe was installed a year ago.

Knach said “road closed” signs have been erected in the affected area and that motorists will need to find an alternate route.  He added repair work may be finished as early as tomorrow but could extend into early next week.
