Workers from General Restoration Corp. begin assembling the rigging which will be used during the three-month cleaning and rehabilitation of the City-County Building

For the next three months, the outside of the City-County Building will get a much-needed “scrubbing.”

Workers this week began assembling the rigging and scaffolding which will be used to raise and lower crews as they clean the nearly 40-year-old building and rehabilitate the joints between the limestone.

The $381,000 project is being handled by General Restoration Corporation of Columbus, Ohio – the same firm that is cleaning and restoring the exterior of the neighboring Allen County Courthouse.

The northeast corner of the CCB Plaza has been fenced off for use as a staging area for General Restoration’s workers.  Other areas around the building will also be blocked off from time to time to protect visitors and employees as the work progresses.  However, normal access points and the regular entrances and exits to the building should be unaffected during normal business hours.

The cleaning and rehabilitation project is expected to be finished by early to mid-November.
