Sol Fest -- the annual two-day music festival in Allen County that celebrates the sun -- is scheduled for May 2 and 3 at Fox Island County Park.

Sol Fest began as an anniversary celebration of 25 years of nature education at Fox Island County Park and State Nature Preserve and the return of the summer season.

A wide varierty of activities is planned for this year's event, highlighted by music from some of the most talented artists in the area. Festival organizers promise something for everyone -- from "wired" to "acoustic" -- at the Main Stage.

Other activities include a beer garden, kids' area, hayrides, food and hiking opportunities at the park.

"The most exciting thing about Sol Fest is that it benefits the kids," said Jeff Baxter, Allen County Parks Superintendent. "Most of the proceeds for the festival are designated for scholarships for schools that can't afford to visit Allen County Parks on field trips, kids that can't afford to attend our day camps and to provide environmental educational programming to organizations that assist disadvantaged kids."

Hours for Sol Fest are Noon to 7 p.m. both days. If you would like more information regarding the festival, contact Ron Zartman at 449-3180 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . You can also find out more by clicking here.
